Reducing the risk of osteoporosis 

Over 1 million Australians have osteoporosis, sadly it is a preventatble disease. There are four key ways to help prevent developing osteoporosis later in life.

These include: 

  • Getting enough calcium
  • Making sure you have good vitamin D levels 
  • Doing regular weight-bearing exercise 
  • And avoiding negative lifestyle habits including: smoking and excessive intake of alcohol.

Bone health is important at all ages, the best way to prevent osteoporosis is to build-up a good peak bone by the time you reach your 20s however, it's never too late to start taking care of your bone health.
